About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our busy teams in the Waikato region. Whether you are a local resident or considering a fresh start in this beautiful part of New Zealand, we would love to hear from you.
In this role, you will be actively involved in working on a diverse range of diesel vehicles and equipment. Your key responsibilities will include diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, dismantling, repairing, and reassembling engines and components, and replacing worn or defective parts.
You will also follow service manuals and technical guides, perform scheduled servicing such as oil changes and tune-ups, and test and adjust parts to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you will utilize diagnostic tools and computer systems, respond to breakdown callouts, and inspect vehicles to advise on roadworthiness.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working on diesel engines within New Zealand.
- A trade qualification is preferred, or equivalent experience in the New Zealand market.
- Proven ability to work with advanced diesel diagnostics, including OEM software, electronic control systems, and emissions control technologies commonly found in New Zealand fleets.
- Current, hands-on experience with modern diagnostic tools and diesel technologies, particularly with late-model commercial and heavy diesel vehicles.
- Regular work experience with Kenworth trucks and similar heavy-duty vehicles; experience with Cummins and PACCAR engines will be considered a strong advantage.
- Own tools and reliable transport.
- A minimum NZ Class 2 licence.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Two recent work references.
