About the Role
We are seeking a Cardiac Physiologist to join our Cardiac Physiology service, which consists of a dedicated team of Cardiac Physiologists and Cardiac Physiology Technicians. In this role, you will work closely with physicians, administrative, and support staff to deliver high-quality, efficient, and patient-centred care for both inpatients and outpatients.
Your responsibilities will include performing cardiac tests within your defined scope of practice, requiring extensive practical and technical expertise in understanding cardiac arrhythmias and their mechanisms. A central aspect of this role is maintaining a focus on patient care while upholding professional standards. Continuous education and training are essential for acquiring and sustaining the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the required competency standards.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Cardiology Service that you will be a part of provides Secondary and Tertiary services for Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley (CC HV) and the central region of New Zealand. The cardiology services include:
- Outpatient Clinics
- Cardiac Diagnostic Testing
- The Heart and Lung Unit
- Cardiac Interventional Suite, offering procedures such as Coronary Angiograms, heart studies, interventions, valve repair, and device implants.
- Electrophysiology Studies, including 3D mapping and Ablation
The Cardiac Physiology Service encompasses:
- Pacing/ICD follow-up service, including remote monitoring and traveling clinics
- Cath Lab services, Implants, TAVI, and Electrophysiology
- Echocardiography
- Exercise Tolerance Testing
- Ambulatory monitoring (Holters, Events, BP)
- Training for Provisional Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiac Physiology Technicians, and other healthcare staff
The CC HV Cardiology Service is accredited as an SCT training facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Completed training demonstrating a high level of clinical competence in a specialty area (Electrophysiology and/or Devices)
- Ability to teach, lead, and mentor developing staff in your area of specialty
Essential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations:
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Membership of SCT
- BSc
- Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Technology (MTEX) or equivalent
- Certificate of Cardiac Physiology (CCP) or equivalent
You should have achieved or be working towards:
- International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) EP Certificate
- Cardiac Electrophysiology Institute of Australasia (CEPIA) Graduate Diploma
- International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) EP Certificate
