    Description

About the Company At Trade Me, we are dedicated to providing our customers with the best possible experience on our platforms, including Holiday Houses and Findsomeone. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality features and enhancements, and we recognize that our success relies on the talented individuals who contribute to our technology stack. About the Role We are seeking a Quality Engineer to play a crucial role in our team. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards through effective testing practices. Your swift, focused, and efficient testing will enable us to continue enhancing our customers' experiences. Your responsibilities will include performing and documenting context-driven testing activities across all relevant platforms. You will guide our testing strategy, utilizing your expertise in both exploratory and automated testing to align with the specific context and risks of our products. Additionally, you will create and maintain automated tests as per our testing strategy while designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable automated test frameworks within our CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration will be key in this role. You will actively participate in agile delivery processes, working closely with developers and product owners during the planning and design phases to ensure quality and testability from the outset. You will also facilitate the deployment of test cases to production and assist in resolving incidents. Moreover, you will contribute to our engineering culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues, and participating in peer reviews. We encourage you to experiment with different testing approaches to continuously evolve our quality practices, including exploring new tools and AI-assisted solutions. Regular communication with our squad and stakeholders regarding product quality, risks, and release readiness will be an essential part of your role. Requirements To be successful in this position, you should bring the following qualifications and experience: - Experience with test automation frameworks for API and web applications. - Proven hands-on experience in building scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks that provide rapid, reliable feedback on product quality. - A minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience, with a balanced skill set that includes both test automation and exploratory testing. - The ability to influence a team's approach to quality, improve testing processes, and advocate for testability within a cross-functional team. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, and integrating tests to provide rapid feedback. - Proficiency in designing and implementing test automation that encompasses multiple application layers, including UI, API, and database validation. - Experience with context-driven testing approaches is ideal. - A strong testing mindset and foundational knowledge, with the ability to dynamically design and execute exploratory tests based on product context and risk. While we primarily use Playwright, TypeScript, and .NET-based BDD frameworks, experience with our specific technology stack is not a requirement. We value transferable engineering skills and adaptability. Additionally, we encourage you to proactively explore and apply modern, AI-assisted tools and practices to enhance our testing processes. Benefits Working at Trade Me comes with numerous benefits: - Flexibility: We understand that everyone has different needs, so we support you in finding the right work-life balance, including options for a home office setup and utilities allowance. We value team connection and come together in person on Mondays and at least one other day each week. - Leave: We support your need for time off with 5 days of wellness leave each year and 10 days of sick leave starting from day one. - Social Opportunities: We believe in celebrating our successes together. Enjoy company-paid lunches on payday, regular Friday gatherings, annual Trade Me awards, and various social events. - Learning and Development: We are committed to your growth from day one, offering on-the-job training, formal training, mentoring, and other opportunities to enhance your skills. We recognize that some candidates may hesitate to apply if they do not meet every qualification. If you are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to submit your resume along with a brief cover letter explaining your interest in the role. Trade Me is an INZ accredited employer, and we truly value diversity. We foster a flexible workplace where everyone is encouraged to reach their full potential.
