About the Role We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. This position offers flexible start dates and the opportunity for overtime. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Engineer will be the general maintenance and repair of all plant equipment, including trucks, excavators, and forklifts. Key responsibilities include: Repairs and Maintenance You will be responsible for the maintenance of all machinery, including conducting repairs on trucks, excavators, and forklifts as needed. You will collaborate with the Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor to manage any outsourced work effectively. It is essential to ensure that all necessary parts for maintenance and repairs are ordered or stored on-site in consultation with the Supervisor. You will also undertake repairs and maintenance of other fixed assets, such as buildings and excavator attachments, as directed. Regular reporting of any damages and conducting assessments of repairs will be part of your duties. Daily checks on all vehicles and machinery are required, with any maintenance needs reported to the Supervisor. Additionally, you will assist on-site staff with outsourcing repairs or obtaining parts during regular operations. Training As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, you will be responsible for training staff on the use and maintenance of equipment, as directed by the Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor. Load Outs and 24-Hour Operation Before load outs and during periods of operation outside normal hours, you will ensure that all necessary equipment is operational and maintained. This may involve coordinating hire equipment, ensuring adequate stocks of consumables, and providing staff with breakdown procedures. Workshop You will maintain and secure all tools necessary for your tasks and ensure that the maintenance workshop area is kept tidy and accessible for all staff. Equipment Operation You will be expected to provide backup support for the operation of baling presses, trucks, excavators, and forklifts as needed during staff absences or breaks, as directed by the Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor. Health and Safety A priority for us is maintaining a safe working environment. You will be responsible for reporting any identified hazards, participating in health and safety discussions, and promptly reporting accidents and near-miss incidents. It's crucial to communicate any health and safety concerns regarding equipment to the Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor and to take part in Toolbox Talks and other safety discussions. Your New Team Teamwork is vital to our operations. We expect all team members to assist each other and provide cover when required. Any staffing issues should be reported to the Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor. Requirements We are looking for candidates who possess the following competencies: - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Honesty and reliability - At least three years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs - Experience in hydraulic and forklift maintenance - Flexibility and versatility - A clean criminal record - Positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues - Clear communication skills - Appropriate licenses, certifications, or training for any tasks or equipment as required - A current and clean full driving license Benefits We offer a competitive salary, opportunities for professional development, and a supportive work environment that values your contributions.
