About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Hammerhands for various residential and commercial projects in Dunedin, starting in January 2026. If you have a solid understanding of construction sites and take pride in delivering reliable, high-quality work, we would like to hear from you. Availability through the Christmas and New Year period is essential for this role.
Location: Multiple sites across Dunedin
Start Date: January 2026
Pay Rate: $28–30 per hour (paid weekly)
As a Hammerhand, you will be part of a dedicated crew focused on delivering quality results while prioritizing safety on-site.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- A minimum of 2 years of recent on-site experience as a Hammerhand
- Confidence in using hand and power tools
- Ability to read plans and follow instructions from builders and site managers
- Experience in residential and/or commercial builds
- A solid understanding of health and safety requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Valid work rights for New Zealand
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Recent references to support your experience
Additionally, candidates should bring:
- Their own nail bag and basic hand tools (a full kit is preferred)
- Reliable transport and a full New Zealand driver’s license
- A strong work ethic with a commitment to punctuality and diligent effort
