About the Role We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our high-performing team at Meadow Fresh in Christchurch. In this role, you will play a vital part in conducting a variety of tests and analyses on our products. You will be responsible for effective communication and addressing the needs of both the laboratory team and our customers. It will be essential for you to adhere to the established quality systems and procedures required for laboratory testing. Key accountabilities for this position include: - Performing routine product analyses and assisting in the daily operations of the laboratory. - Writing clear and concise reports and communicating findings with staff at various levels. - Collaborating with production staff regarding sampling and test results. - Notifying Production Managers of any critical process or product non-compliances in a timely manner. - Assisting with additional testing and traceability efforts as needed. - Ensuring proper handling and usage of chemicals and equipment in the lab. - Identifying and correcting potentially hazardous practices or conditions. - Participating in the organization and execution of project work, including writing and checking results. - Training staff under our training system to ensure accurate results through consistent techniques. The role involves rotational shifts, working three days on and two days off, with start times between 5 AM and 8 AM for a duration of 10 hours each shift. About You To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications and skills: - A tertiary qualification in chemistry, microbiology, or food sciences is desirable. - Experience in food industry manufacturing is preferred. - Previous experience in the dairy industry or IANZ laboratory is advantageous. - A strong understanding of chemistry, microbiology, and laboratory techniques, particularly those used in dairy product analysis. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) is desirable. - A collaborative team player who values cooperation and teamwork.
