Our Dunedin Wildlife Hospital, located on the Otago Polytechnic campus in Otepoti/Dunedin, provides specialized veterinary care for sick and injured native wildlife. Every day, our committed team treats a variety of patients, including hoiho, kea, and kereru, giving them the opportunity to thrive in their natural habitats. On a typical day, your responsibilities may include: - Meeting with local iwi, government agencies, or funders to establish partnerships - Writing grant applications or pitching sponsorship proposals - Supporting the team during wildlife emergency admissions - Engaging with school groups or community clubs to share our mission - Drafting donor newsletters or crafting compelling social media content - Collaborating with staff to review systems and enhance processes - Attending board meetings, planning sessions, or policy development - Assisting in the delivery of events and community engagement activities We expect our General Manager to be both visionary and practical, leading by example and being willing to assist in various tasks to ensure smooth operations. Experience in the non-profit, conservation, health, or community sectors is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be adept at connecting with diverse audiences, from school students to senior government officials, and have a passion for translating partnerships and enthusiasm into tangible actions and results. As this role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, you will need to be skilled in prioritizing tasks to achieve the best outcomes for the hospital.
