About the Role
We are currently looking for a qualified Heavy Diesel Technician to join our workshop team in Auckland. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining customer vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards, ensuring their reliability, safety, and performance.
You will have the opportunity to work on the latest model vehicles, ranging from light commercial units to high-productivity truck and trailer combinations weighing up to 50 tonnes. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an autonomous work environment, has a keen eye for detail, and takes pride in identifying faults and opportunities for preventative maintenance while completing tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
Our workshop maintains a steady workflow, and working hours may be adjusted to meet customer demand. We are particularly interested in candidates who can offer flexibility for evening and weekend shifts. This full-time position is suited for experienced Heavy Diesel Technicians or light automotive technicians looking to transition into the heavy diesel field. Training will be provided for the right applicant.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults through repairs, overhauls, and adjustments
- Conduct test drives to verify vehicle performance
- Troubleshoot breakdowns efficiently and accurately
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge through ongoing training
What You'll Need to Succeed
- A genuine interest in the trucking industry
- A recognised Diesel Technician qualification
- The ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions
- Experience in a similar light or heavy automotive role
- A full driver's licence (a Class 2 HT licence is preferred but not essential)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience post-apprenticeship
- Knowledge of Isuzu trucks is advantageous but not required
- A positive, self-motivated attitude
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices
