    Probation Officer - Taupo We are seeking a dedicated Probation Officer to join our team at Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) in Taupo. About the Role As a Probation Officer, you will work closely with individuals under our management and their whanau to address criminogenic behaviors and lower the risk of reoffending. Your role will involve managing community-based sentences and orders, preparing reports for the Courts and the New Zealand Parole Board, and contributing to public safety by prioritizing positive relationships and overall wellbeing. You will uphold the mana and dignity of those in your care, using principles of manaaki and kaitiaki to guide your work. By focusing on the wellbeing of individuals, you will play a crucial role in reducing their likelihood of returning to the justice system. About You We are looking for candidates who: - Can connect with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds - Possess strong spoken and written communication skills - Are team players and can motivate others - Remain positive and resilient in challenging situations - Have critical thinking abilities and can effectively assess information Experience managing large caseloads is advantageous. A Full New Zealand Driver's Licence is required, and applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Please note that priority will be given to candidates who already hold this right, and we may not be able to support visa applications for this position. Salary The salary range for this position, across Levels 1 to 5, is $64,359 to $81,909. Your appointment and remuneration will be based on your skills and experience relevant to the role.
