About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled physiotherapist to join our Older Persons Physiotherapy Team as an Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist in Rheumatology. This part-time position (0.625 FTE, 25 hours per week) is based at Burwood Hospital and will allow you to provide leadership, education, and clinical excellence to patients diagnosed with various rheumatological conditions.
In this role, you will deliver expert physiotherapy services, supporting patients throughout their journey from diagnostic assessment clinics to rehabilitation and onward referrals to community services. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing clinical autonomy, strong decision-making, and holistic, patient-centered care.
Key responsibilities include developing advanced assessment and diagnostic skills for patients with rheumatological diseases, ensuring a high-quality clinical service, collaborating with leadership and multidisciplinary colleagues to implement service improvements, and mentoring junior staff.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a passionate and experienced physiotherapist who thrives in a dynamic, patient-focused environment. You will possess a strong foundation in musculoskeletal and rheumatology care, along with advanced clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills. To succeed in this role, you should demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience post-qualification, with a strong interest in Rheumatology
- Previous experience in a musculoskeletal setting; advanced skills in Rheumatology are preferred but not mandatory
- Knowledge of local, national, and international health systems is highly desirable
- Experience in training and supervising staff, with the ability to foster team development both collectively and individually
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to initiating your learning journey in these areas
- An interest in quality and service provision
- Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of NZ and a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) is essential
