About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and level-headed individual to join our security team as a Port Protection Officer. In this critical role, you will help ensure the safety and integrity of the port around the clock. You will work a rotating roster of four 12-hour shifts on followed by four shifts off, alternating between day and night shifts every few months.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring CCTV, managing port access, verifying credentials for all personnel, conducting vehicle checks, and performing harbour control duties. Additionally, you will write incident reports and maintain daily logs. As part of our vigilant team, you will play a key role in keeping Eastland Port safe, secure, and efficient.
The Hours
This position requires a commitment to a rotating schedule of four shifts on and four shifts off. Each shift lasts 12 hours, with hours from 6 am to 6 pm or from 6 pm to 6 am. You may also be asked to cover additional shifts occasionally to support operational needs.
Requirements
We are looking for a practical thinker who remains calm under pressure and possesses strong common sense. You should have an eye for detail and a natural inclination to uphold rules and standards.
Additional requirements include:
- Clear communication skills and the ability to write reports confidently
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence and familiarity with radios and cameras
- A current COA (Certificate of Approval) or the willingness to obtain one
- A First Aid Certificate and NZQA Level 2 or 3 in security are advantageous but not mandatory
