About the Role
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Casual Medical Photographer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for capturing clinically relevant images across various hospital departments, including Medical, Surgical, Emergency, Laboratory, and Theatres.
As a vital member of our clinical support team, you will enhance patient care by providing high-quality clinical photography for documentation within patient records. You will collaborate closely with our Medical, Surgical, and Nursing teams to ensure accurate and effective visual documentation. Our experienced Senior Medical Photographer will provide full training and ongoing support to help you excel in your role.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Responding to Clinical Photography requests from Medical and Nursing Teams
- Supporting teaching, research, and publication efforts on location as resources allow
- Managing the clinical photograph service referral, quality, and storage database systems
- Providing service coverage across our Capital Coast and Hutt Valley campuses
The hours for this position will be scheduled between core business hours, Monday to Friday. As this is a casual role, you may cover leave and assist during peak periods. Each shift will consist of 8 hours, and the salary range for this position is $72,074 - $86,719 pro-rata.
About the Team
The Medical Photography Service functions as a critical clinical support unit within the Hospital Flow Directorate. We deliver high-quality clinical images to departments across the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley campuses, supporting various needs such as clinical assessments, patient documentation, and imaging for laboratory specimens.
About You
We are looking for a creative and proactive team member who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. You should be comfortable working in acute settings, such as the Emergency Department and Operating Theatres, and able to interact confidently with both patients and healthcare professionals. This role requires an individual who can work independently while also functioning collaboratively within our team.
To be successful in this position, you should possess:
- A formal photographic qualification along with up-to-date knowledge and experience as a photographer
- The ability to work effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced hospital and clinic setting
- Strong organizational skills and the capacity to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Confidence and resilience in a high-pressure clinical environment
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and/or Adobe Bridge, along with a working knowledge of graphic design and web-based tools
- Familiarity with Windows Computers; Macintosh experience is a bonus
- A commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining high-quality standards
- A positive, enthusiastic approach with a passion for excellence
- High competency and comfort with camera equipment, including ring flash, speedlite, and various lenses
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations
