We are a leading firm in the construction industry, dedicated to delivering high-quality civil engineering projects in New Zealand. Our team is committed to innovation and excellence, and we are currently looking to expand our expertise by adding a Civil Quantity Surveyor to our team in Tauranga.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project quantity surveying tender process for vertical civil construction projects. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including roading, subdivisions, earthworks, building foundations, and drainage systems.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities in collaboration with architects and/or clients, which will constitute approximately 75% of your time.
- Conducting cost analysis for repair and maintenance projects.
- Scaling plans and creating a schedule of quantities or bill of quantities.
- Manually measuring quantities from plans.
- Collaborating with Project Managers on live projects to prepare month-end reports, which will make up about 25% of your time.
- Assisting in defining client requirements and conducting feasibility studies.
- Advising on procurement strategies.
- Identifying, analyzing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
- Managing relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Working as part of a three-person quantity surveying team.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Civil Quantity Surveyor, with specific experience in New Zealand.
- Proven tendering experience in New Zealand, particularly with local suppliers.
- Familiarity with tendering for vertical civil construction work, earthworks, drainage, and roading projects.
- Proficiency in scaling plans and creating schedules or bills of quantities.
- Experience with manual measurement from plans.
