We are currently seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator Welder to join our team and assist with projects throughout the West Coast region and beyond. About the Role As a Metal Fabricator Welder, you will play a crucial role in the fabrication, installation, and repair of various metal products. Your responsibilities will include marking, cutting, shaping, welding, and assembling steel and other metal materials to create or repair metal structures and products. Given the nature of our projects, flexibility in work locations is preferred, as you may be asked to travel across the country. Key responsibilities include: - Fabricating, installing, and repairing metal products such as vents, handrails, boilers, aircraft and boat parts, or beams and girders for construction projects - Preparing metal for fabrication - Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints - Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines - Setting up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears - Welding metal pieces together using techniques such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding - Double-checking design specifications before commencing cutting work - Fabricating and constructing metal components - Grinding and finishing completed products - Inspecting finished products for defects, ensuring all welds, joints, and parts meet quality standards, and making necessary adjustments - Adhering to health and safety protocols - Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor Requirements To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria: - A minimum of 2.5 years of relevant experience or possess a relevant qualification - Strong interpersonal skills, with good time management and a solid work ethic - Flexibility to work in various locations across the country - A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry - A dedication to health and safety practices on-site - Reliability and a strong work ethic Benefits We offer competitive pay conditions, with a minimum hourly rate of $30.00 and a maximum of $35.00, depending on experience. You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours of work each week. Location This position may require you to work in multiple locations throughout New Zealand, including regions such as Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
