About the Role
We are currently looking for a qualified Heavy Diesel Technician to join our workshop team in Hamilton. In this position, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining customer vehicles according to manufacturer standards, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance.
You will work with a variety of vehicles, ranging from light commercial units to high-productivity truck and trailer combinations weighing up to 50 tonnes. We are seeking an individual who can work independently, possesses a keen eye for detail, and takes pride in identifying faults and opportunities for preventative maintenance while completing tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
Our workshop maintains a consistent workflow, and hours may vary to accommodate customer needs. We are particularly interested in candidates who are flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends.
This full-time position is suitable for an experienced Heavy Diesel Technician or a light automotive technician looking to transition into heavy diesel. We will provide training for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults through repairs, overhauls, and adjustments
- Conduct test drives to verify vehicle performance
- Troubleshoot breakdowns efficiently and accurately
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge through ongoing training
What You'll Need to Succeed
- A genuine interest in the trucking industry
- A recognized Diesel Technician qualification
- Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions
- Experience in a similar light or heavy automotive role
- A full driver’s license (Class 2 HT license preferred but not essential)
- A minimum of five years of post-apprenticeship experience
- Isuzu truck knowledge is advantageous but not required
- A positive, self-motivated attitude
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices
