About the Role
We are currently looking for a motivated Lead Software Engineer to join our growing Property team. This is a permanent position where you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of our projects while mentoring a talented group of engineers.
In this role, you will provide direct support to the Property Engineering team and collaborate on key projects. You will actively contribute to our supportive engineering community and create a long-term vision for the team that aligns with our organizational strategies.
Your responsibilities will include leading the implementation of engineering best practices, collaborating with Principal Software Engineers and Product Owners to develop technical roadmaps, and effectively communicating technical innovations to product development teams. You will also contribute to our governance processes by drafting and implementing guidelines and technical documentation.
Additionally, you will mentor engineers, offer guidance and feedback for their professional growth, and work within software delivery teams to plan, develop, test, and release complex solutions. You will also manage and reduce technical debt and implement plans to maintain your platform's Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in similar tech lead roles
- Strong software development skills, particularly in C#
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies is preferred, but not required
- A deep understanding of software development principles, architecture, design patterns, and modern technologies
- Strong technical knowledge for designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable applications
- Proven ability to mentor and support junior engineers
- The ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, even under tight deadlines
- An openness to adopting new tools and methodologies to enhance platform capabilities
- Practical knowledge of technologies and practices that align with Trade Me's technical strategy
