    Description

About the Company Founded in 1973, we at Hynds are proud to be New Zealand's leading supplier of products for the management of water and water-based waste within the civil and rural infrastructure sectors. As a family-owned business, we have built our reputation on exceptional customer service and continuous innovation. Our commitment to our customers is at the forefront of everything we do, guided by our core values of integrity, connection, and a focus on people. About the Role We are seeking a dedicated professional to coordinate and schedule trial mixes and test programs both in our laboratory and production environments. This role is essential for investigating the performance and impact of alternative materials and binders, ensuring compliance with New Zealand and international standards. Key Responsibilities In this position, you will prepare and schedule laboratory and production trials and tests. You will source raw material samples necessary for identified trial initiatives and lead laboratory-scale trial mixes. This includes conducting associated testing, collating results, and preparing comprehensive reports. You will document trial procedures and establish and maintain protocols in line with industry standards. Collaboration with the Pokeno Lab Team will be vital as you learn and implement best practices. Additionally, you will perform and monitor routine concrete checks and tests, assessing properties such as plastic and hardened characteristics, surface finish, and durability. You will also check reinforcing steels to determine tensile strength, ultimate yield, and ductility. Presenting results and reports to relevant stakeholders will be a key aspect of this role, as these findings will inform decision-making processes. We encourage you to suggest and implement improvements to trial processes to enhance the quality of results and improve efficiency. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should possess a tertiary qualification in Science, Materials Science, or Engineering. A minimum of three years' experience in a testing or laboratory setting is required, including experience in report writing. We are looking for someone who can work independently while following established testing procedures. Familiarity with construction materials and concrete is preferred, as well as knowledge in concrete technology and mix design principles. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with fellow technicians, plant operators, and site supervisors. We value technical aptitude, a solution-oriented approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Benefits Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive and innovative environment. We are committed to high levels of health and safety. Therefore, all candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical examination, an alcohol and drug screening, and a criminal history check. Additionally, candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. If you are looking to contribute to a reputable company while advancing your career in a dynamic setting, we would love to hear from you.
