About the Role We are currently seeking an Operator/Locator to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Build Supervisor to ensure projects are completed according to design, scope, and contractual obligations. As a Drill Operator, your primary responsibilities will include operating and locating drills to install, repair, and maintain essential utilities such as fibre, water, and power. We are looking for individuals who are confident in drill operation and/or locating, physically fit, and possess a strong work ethic. You should be willing to assist your team with various tasks, including manual labor when necessary. This position is based in our Hamilton Horotiu Branch, but you may be required to work at multiple locations. The role offers a minimum guaranteed work schedule of 40 hours per week on a fixed-term basis of three months. Key Responsibilities - Operate directional drills and other equipment to complete build works as outlined in project drawings and in accordance with client standards. - Complete all pre-start documentation, permits, quality assurance, and compliance paperwork. Assist team members in fulfilling their documentation requirements. - Execute work activities according to agreed designs and project specifications. - Locate services and interpret utility plans accurately. - Monitor drilling progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal performance and alignment with project objectives. - Conduct routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance on directional drilling machinery. - Collaborate effectively with the team to safely and efficiently achieve project goals. - Undertake additional tasks to support the Civtec business as required. - Maintain a safe work environment for both the public and staff. - Ensure compliance with Civtec and client standards. This role will primarily involve outdoor work at various sites across the Waikato, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Central North Island, and Auckland regions, on both public and private property. Requirements To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: - A minimum of three years of experience operating a directional drill or locating, or a Level 7 Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. - Proven experience in directional drill machine operation and/or locating is preferred. - Ability to interpret project service plans and technical documentation related to directional drilling. - Proficiency in reading the location of other utilities on civil works plans. - Experience in laboring within civil teams. - WTR Endorsement is required. - Physical fitness and a willingness to take direction and learn. - A Full Driver's License is required; a Class 2 license is preferred.
