Pharmacy Technician 0.4 FTE Permanent + 0.2 FTE (3 months fixed term) Rotorua Hospital
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our supportive and dynamic hospital pharmacy team located in Rotorua, New Zealand's adventure capital. About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our pharmacy team and support our pharmacy services. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely supply of medications to patients throughout Rotorua Hospital.
In this position, you will be a key point of contact for nurses and other healthcare professionals, providing essential support and information. Your daily tasks will include dispensing a wide range of pharmaceuticals, preparing non-sterile compounded products, and assisting with stock management to maintain optimal inventory levels. Your attention to detail and commitment to patient safety will directly enhance the quality of patient care. You will collaborate closely with pharmacists and other technicians in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with automated dispensing units (Pyxis) as part of an ongoing project scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2026. This is an excellent chance to become part of a patient-focused, multidisciplinary team and gain valuable experience in hospital pharmacy.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our pharmacy team is divided across two sites in Rotorua and Taupo, consisting of 19 dedicated staff members: 13 pharmacists, one pharmacy intern, and five technicians. The diverse range of roles offers plenty of opportunities for professional growth and development.

About You
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- A qualified Pharmacy Technician with NZ Certification at Level 4, 5, or 6, with or without a PACT qualification.
- A flexible team player with a diligent approach to work.
- A problem-solver with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong time management abilities.
- Consistent, reliable, and accurate in all aspects of work.
- A high standard of ethical and professional practice.
- A customer service focus and a good sense of humor, willing to share experience and expertise with the team.
