About the Role We are currently seeking a motivated Solid Waste Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering waste and recycling services throughout the district. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to waste minimization efforts and promote environmental sustainability in a region renowned for its picturesque landscapes and close-knit communities. As a Solid Waste Officer, you will support key operational activities, enhance waste data management, improve customer experiences, and assist with educational and awareness initiatives. In This Role, You Will - Support the delivery and monitoring of the Council’s waste and recycling contracts. - Serve as the first point of contact for service requests, public inquiries, and contractor communication. - Collect, manage, and report on waste data to facilitate continuous improvement. - Maintain records and databases, including weighbridge data, kerbside bin information, and contamination reports. - Assist with invoice processing and account reconciliation for waste services. - Contribute to waste minimization campaigns and community engagement initiatives. - Help manage the maintenance program and data reporting for closed landfill sites. - Provide administrative support and maintain service maps and documentation. To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Bring - Strong customer service and communication skills. - Experience in waste management or a related science field would be advantageous. - Confidence in data entry and reporting, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. - Solid organizational and time management skills. - A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external contractors. - A current full driver’s license.
