Tradestaff Global is currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced Flooring Installers for an exciting opportunity at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the upcoming summer season. This unique role will provide a chance to work in one of the most isolated yet stunning environments in the world.
About the Role
The Antarctica summer season runs from October 2025 to March 2026, with deployment expected around October. Return dates will be confirmed closer to the start of the season.
This position is not suited for everyone; it requires individuals who are ready to embrace the challenges of working in a remote location for an extended period.
As a Flooring Installer, you will be part of a large commercial construction project, focusing on interior flooring installation. Your responsibilities will include preparation work, base leveling, laying carpet tiles and rolled vinyl flooring, as well as ensuring clean and accurate finishes. While tasks may vary, they can also be repetitive, so precision and consistency are crucial. Experience in commercial flooring installation is essential for this role.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a New Zealand or US citizen, currently and permanently residing in New Zealand.
- You should be willing to receive Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations.
- Candidates should be prepared to work long hours, six days a week.
- Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, your notice period, and flight availability to the ice.
- You must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- A Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence and a clean criminal record are required.
- The application process is lengthy, so patience is essential.
- You may need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, with travel costs covered if you are coming from outside the Bay of Plenty.
