Compensation: $88,560 to $99,630 per annum

About the Role
We are seeking a Community Podiatrist to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with Primary Health Care Providers and Community Partners to deliver vital podiatry services, with a particular focus on ensuring equitable access for Māori and Pacific communities.
As a Community Podiatrist, your main objective will be to provide early interventions and preventative care, which will help reduce hospital admissions and prevent adverse health outcomes, such as amputations. Your efforts will significantly enhance the quality of life for those we serve.
Position Objectives
- Deliver podiatry services to priority communities within the Southern Region.
- Improve preventative health outcomes through the delivery of podiatry services and workforce development, adhering to best practice standards.
- Reduce barriers to access by fostering collaboration and coordination within primary health care processes in the Southern Region.
- Work closely with WellSouth teams to analyze population data and guide best practices in podiatry services, while empowering communities to understand and achieve data sovereignty.
- Partner with internal and external clinical teams to meet agreed health targets.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a Bachelor of Health Science in Podiatry or an equivalent qualification.
- Possess a current annual practicing certificate under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2002 and be registered with the Podiatrists Board of New Zealand, or be eligible for registration.
- Have five to six years of work experience in podiatry.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide diagnostic, preventative, and rehabilitative treatment for conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs, including diabetic foot care.
- Be working towards completing Podiatry NZ or similar high-risk foot education.
- Exhibit the ability to manage unexpected situations and crises while maintaining professionalism.
- Desirable experience includes wound care, management of long-term conditions, and working with priority communities (Māori, Pacific, and others).
- Have effective interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
