About the Role We are seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to join our Child Development team at Whangarei Hospital. This role is a permanent position, offering 36 hours of work per week, Monday through Friday. In this capacity, you will deliver effective Paediatric Occupational Therapy services to children across Northland, particularly those with disabilities and developmental challenges. About the Team/Service/Location You will be based at the Whangarei Hospital Campus and will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary Child Development Service. Our team is dedicated to supporting children and their whānau in reaching their life goals and aspirations through therapy, equipment provision, and housing solutions. Your work will involve home-based visits in the community, as well as onsite clinics throughout Northland. Additionally, you will participate in early intervention services within schools and preschools as part of our collaborative approach. About You To be successful in this role, you will need to hold current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand (OTBNZ). While previous experience in Paediatrics and/or neurological rehabilitation is highly desirable, we also value your ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and foster strong relationships with both staff and clients. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with a competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to begin your learning journey in these areas. We also appreciate experience in projects or initiatives that align with the principles of Te Tiriti, as well as the application of Māori knowledge and approaches in healthcare settings.
