About the Role
We are currently looking for a new team member to join us in a full-time position within our acute mental health crisis respite service. You will work alongside the crisis assessment and treatment team in a beautiful villa located in Nelson that provides 24-hour care. In this role, you will be vital in supporting individuals experiencing mental health distress that prevents them from staying in their home environment by offering short-term crisis respite support.
The shifts for this position are Tuesday and Wednesday Awake Night shifts, from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM in Nelson. We provide a meal for our overnight awake staff.
In this role, you will:
- Focus on the individual needs of clients while ensuring culturally safe practices
- Complete relevant administrative tasks, maintain comprehensive notes, and provide effective handovers
- Collaborate with colleagues to support clients using a recovery model
- During the times when clients are sleeping, you will take care of necessary tasks such as cleaning, maintaining filing systems, organizing first aid and emergency kits, and preparing paperwork
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must hold a Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or an equivalent qualification, or be currently working towards it). For equivalency information, please visit the Ministry of Health website. You should possess the ability to provide medication support with meticulous attention to detail and align with our recovery-focused approach.
Additionally, you will need:
- A New Zealand Certificate Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognized equivalent, or currently studying towards it)
- Some experience in mental health
- A full New Zealand driver's license
- A current comprehensive first aid certificate or the willingness to obtain one
- The right to work in New Zealand; please note that this role is not supported under the AEWV
