About the Role
We are seeking a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming team at Te Awa, Napier. This position goes beyond traditional cleaning duties; you will play a vital role in maintaining a fresh, homely, and dignified environment for the residents. Your efforts will ensure that our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.
As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you will be integral in creating a clean, uplifting atmosphere for residents, their families, and fellow team members. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Performing high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and kitchen facilities
- Laundering, folding, and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care
- Labelling, mending, and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
- Supporting infection control measures and adhering to health and safety procedures
- Building friendly and respectful relationships with residents to understand their unique needs
This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum of 60 hours and up to 80 hours per fortnight, operating on a 4 days on, 2 days off roster.
Requirements
You will be a great fit for this role if you:
- Have experience in housekeeping, ideally within healthcare or hospitality
- Take pride in your work and pay attention to detail
- Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
- Have a genuine interest in aged care (no prior experience necessary, as full training will be provided)
