Our facility includes an inpatient ward, an autologous bone marrow transplant suite, a day care and chemotherapy suite, an outpatient department, and a radiation treatment facility. About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and committed Research Fellow to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary cancer and blood research department at Waikato Hospital. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract, classified under the advanced trainee contract category F.
Our research unit is actively involved in a wide range of clinical trials, including phase I-IV trials of novel agents and treatment modalities, as well as investigator-led research. As a Regional Cancer Centre, we provide oncology and haematology services to a diverse population of approximately 800,000, offering both chemotherapy and radiotherapy administration along with outpatient clinics in Hamilton and three secondary hospitals.
Waikato Hospital is also a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Our Blood and Cancer Governance Group, established in 2016, recognizes the vital contributions of our clinical trials team to oncology and haematology practices, with a focus on advancing evidence-based practice through research.

About You
As a Cancer and Blood Research Fellow, you will be:
- Registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Responsible for reviewing clinical trial patients across various disciplines
- Overseeing the management of all aspects of trial patients, including new patient consultations, consent, screening, and follow-up
- Registered or eligible to work in New Zealand
