About the Role
We are currently seeking two Mechanical Maintenance Fitters to join our busy and expanding team in Christchurch—one is a new position, and the other is a replacement role. As a member of Citycare Water, you will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team committed to keeping our city's essential systems operating smoothly. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our pumps and storage facilities, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our operations across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, storage facilities, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Carry out installations, upgrades, and calibrations of mechanical systems and components.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Qualifications: A Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 4 or equivalent is required, along with a Class 1 full driver's license.
- Experience: Proven experience in a Maintenance Fitter role, ideally within the water or wastewater sector.
- Skills: Strong mechanical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Attributes: Excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Additional Requirements: Flexibility to work on-call and outside of regular hours as needed, once trained and capable.
All preferred candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks to the employer's satisfaction, which includes, but is not limited to, a Ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
