About the Role
We are currently seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic to join our Transmission Lines Services Division based in Dunedin. This full-time, permanent role guarantees a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a Monday to Friday schedule and potential participation in a standby roster.
In this role, you will provide essential technical services, making a tangible impact on our operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying electrical systems to prepare for work
- Using lines machinery, plant, and equipment within an electricity network environment
- Climbing and working on electricity network structures
- Assessing the condition of electricity lines
- Applying and removing earths from overhead electric line conductors
- Developing work plans for the construction and servicing of overhead electricity lines and equipment
- Jointing electricity network overhead conductors
- Repairing and overhauling electricity network tower foundations
- Installing and replacing electricity network pole structures
- Dismantling electricity network lines and structures
- Removing electricity network to overhead pole line installations up to 110 kV
- Overhauling tower structure hardware in electrical networks up to 220 kV
- Understanding and implementing our health and safety policies, ensuring your own safety as well as that of others
- Setting a personal example in health and safety matters and engaging in worker participation practices
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A National Certificate Level 4 as a Transmission Line Mechanic
- Hands-on experience in Transmission Line work that meets industry standards
- A thorough understanding of current regulatory and industry requirements
- Flexibility to adapt to adverse weather, resource limitations, and other conditions
- A full New Zealand Class 1 driver's license
