About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic mammographer with a passion for women's health to join our diverse and friendly team. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering both the symptomatic service and Breast Screen Aotearoa (BSA) national screening programme to the eligible population of the Wellington region. Our service is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Tomosynthesis and Vacuum Assisted Biopsies. A flexible approach is essential, as this position may require evening and weekend work. About the Team/Service Location This position offers the opportunity to work in a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages personal and professional development. Our team consists of 13 Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs) and 2 Health Care Assistants, working a mix of full and part-time hours. We collaborate closely with Radiologists, Nurses, and our Data and Administration team, and we hold weekly multidisciplinary team meetings with Pathologists and Surgeons. Hutt Hospital serves as our home base, with screening, assessment, and symptomatic clinics running Monday through Friday. We conduct screening clinics at Kenepuru (4 days), Wellington Hospital (1 day), Wellington CBD (1-2 days), and our mobile unit (5 days). The standard hours for this role are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with Saturday and late-night shifts (10:30 AM - 7:00 PM) scheduled as needed. All staff rotate through the various sites, and a hospital car is available for offsite travel. We prioritize teamwork and collaboration, upholding our district values by listening to each other and working together effectively. About You The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and motivated individual with a comprehensive understanding of mammography and breast imaging, including Tomosynthesis. A New Zealand-recognized postgraduate mammography qualification accredited by BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA) is required. You will be responsible for performing high-quality routine and specialized mammography while maintaining exemplary patient care standards. Additionally, you will assist with stereotactic core biopsies, vacuum-assisted biopsies, and excisions, and participate in the department's Quality Assurance Programme.
