About the Role
We are seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon for a fixed-term position of 12 to 24 months. In this role, you will engage in both general orthopaedic and trauma surgery, while also focusing on a complementary subspecialty. You will participate in the general on-call roster and contribute to the management of trauma and other acute orthopaedic cases.
Given the high demand in our community, you will be instrumental in providing primary knee and hip joint replacement services to the Manawatu community. If you are interested, there is also the opportunity to offer services in the private sector. We welcome applications from surgeons with an interest or subspecialty in Upper Limb or Arthroplasty.
You will join a team of seven Orthopaedic Specialists, supported by a Medical Officer, nine Registrars (two of whom are part of the national training program), and House Officers.
About Our Organisation
Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital located in Palmerston North, Manawatu, in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. As a secondary hospital, we provide a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic, and Neurosurgery. Our hospital serves a local population of approximately 180,000, while also being the base for a regional head and neck oncology service that caters to a population of 550,000.

Requirements
Applicants must hold FRACS Orthopaedic or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for vocational registration in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
