About the Role We are currently seeking individuals for a permanent role in log scaling, which is an NZQA accredited position. This opportunity includes a structured training program that will enable you to earn a recognized qualification. No prior experience is necessary, as we provide comprehensive training to all successful applicants. The role takes place at our Checkpoint facility located at Port Nelson, where logging trucks arrive to have their logs scaled, measured, and ticketed for export. Each log is assigned a barcode and entered into our system using specialized scanning equipment. Our Checkpoint operates from 4 AM to midnight, Monday through Friday. The shifts can extend up to 12 hours, and some weekend work may be required. Flexibility in your working hours is essential, as shift times may vary. About You We are looking for individuals who possess strong attention to detail and accuracy, as these qualities are critical in meeting deadlines. Excellent communication skills are necessary, as you will interact with a diverse range of people, including truck drivers. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, as it involves being active outdoors, standing for long periods, and constant movement. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable operating scanning equipment and ideally hold a Full Class 1 Licence. Full training will be provided, and there are opportunities for further up-skilling into other positions as they become available.
