About the Role
The District Nursing role is an integral part of our community-based healthcare delivery services. Our mission is to collaborate with various partners to support treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management, empowering individuals to maximize their independence.
In this position, you will focus on supporting the Community Health Services (CHS) Oncology service. Your responsibilities will include providing care to patients undergoing active treatment for cancer, delivering direct patient care, and serving as a geographically based District Nurse. You will assist, direct, and support the care of patients diagnosed with cancer as delegated by the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Oncology.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Community Health Services team offers a range of nursing services centered around quality healthcare. We work closely with patients and their whanau to achieve optimal health outcomes. The team comprises District Nurses, Associate Clinical Nurse Managers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Healthcare Assistants, and Administrative support. We prioritize skill acquisition through a comprehensive orientation program and encourage continuous learning and professional development.
About You
We are eager to hear from nurses who have a passion for working in a community environment and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team. Ideal candidates will have recent experience in oncology or community nursing, along with acute assessment skills that enable them to recognize deterioration and support individuals living at home. Additional competencies include expertise in IV-related therapies, catheter management, and wound care.
