About the Role We are seeking a Maritime Officer to join our Nautical and Coastal team. In this role, you will play a key part in managing the safe and sustainable operation of our region's harbors and coastlines. You will assist the Harbour Master in monitoring marine traffic and ensuring that safe boating practices are adhered to by those on the water. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and servicing navigation aids, supporting maritime safety activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, participating in scientific monitoring programs, promoting water safety education, responding to maritime emergencies, and conducting maintenance and repairs on patrol vessels. This is a full-time position based at our Picton Office. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will need to hold a Certificate of Competency appropriate for maritime operations. We are looking for a reliable team player who can energize and inspire a small but highly capable team. Strong administrative and organizational skills are essential to assist with team coordination and management. You should possess advanced knowledge of maritime navigation processes, communication tools, and the devices used for managing and tracking vessels both at sea and in coastal areas. A solid understanding of the operation and maintenance of Aids to Navigation is also required, along with a genuine interest in coastal science and the management of the coastal marine environment. Physical fitness is necessary, as you may need to work in isolated and remote environments. Your skills and experience should be complemented by your ability to remain calm during emergencies. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for addressing matters of maritime safety in various settings, including public forums, on boats, at boat ramps, or on wharves. The salary range for this position is between $68,000 and $75,000, depending on the knowledge, skills, and experience you bring to the role.
