About the Role
We are currently seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our team of Whanau Support Workers in the Blenheim area. In this role, you will provide support to tamariki (school-aged children) and taitamariki (youth and teenagers) to help them engage in various activities and build their confidence within their homes and communities. Your responsibilities may include accompanying them to cafes, movies, assisting in job searches, or encouraging participation in sports teams.
While prior experience working with children or youth is beneficial, it is not a requirement, as we provide comprehensive training for all new employees.
What Does a Whanau Support Worker Do?
As a Whanau Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping young people lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. You will assist them in pursuing their personal dreams and goals by facilitating activities such as swimming, attending sporting events, engaging in arts and crafts, going to the movies, or shopping. The opportunities for support are diverse and extensive.

Requirements
We are looking for individuals who possess the following qualities:
- A passion for supporting others in achieving their goals, hopes, and dreams.
- The ability to look beyond barriers and create empowering experiences for individuals to lead their best lives.
- A desire to help others learn new skills and achieve positive outcomes.
- Availability to work after school hours, typically from 3 PM to 10 PM.
- Experience working with young people is advantageous.
- The ability to connect and build positive relationships through consistent support.
Candidates must hold a valid driver's license and be able to complete police checks, CYRAS checks, and reference checks.
Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness are essential in this role, as the individuals we support come from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and interests.
