Our team is passionate about food and dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience for our customers. We are currently seeking a skilled Cook to join our friendly team in our busy kitchen. About the Role As a Cook, you will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks that contribute to our kitchen operations. Your primary duties will include food preparation, seasoning, and cooking a diverse range of Indian curries and tandoori dishes. You will play a vital role in maintaining the quality of our food while adhering to health and safety standards. Key responsibilities include: - Performing all essential food preparation and cooking tasks - Regulating cooking equipment temperatures during food preparation - Ensuring food quality is maintained at all times - Preparing gravies and sauces according to business requirements - Storing food in the refrigerator and freezer as necessary - Conducting stocktaking and reporting to the Chef - Assisting in recipe development and food presentation - Managing serving sizes and the quality of meals - Ensuring proper presentation, portioning, and garnishing of dishes - Accommodating customer dietary requests - Checking the freshness of food and ingredients - Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen in accordance with New Zealand health standards - Upholding hygiene practices at all times - Training other kitchen staff as required Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria: - A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or a Level 4 qualification - Knowledge and expertise in preparing authentic Indian curry and tandoori dishes, including snacks - Flexibility to work within a 7-day operation, including split shifts and weekends - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from supervisors - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - A proactive attitude and a solid work ethic Benefits Joining our team offers you the chance to work in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
