About the Role
We are currently seeking a Rehab Coach to join our Rehabilitation team, working 64 hours per fortnight. In this role, you will assist clients in reaching their personal goals and maintaining independence in their daily lives. You will support them in engaging in age-appropriate activities within the community.
A typical day as a Rehab Coach may include:
- Assisting clients with gym or pool programs
- Helping clients with meal preparation and budgeting for groceries
- Identifying local volunteering opportunities or community groups
- Facilitating participation in our in-house Reconnect Groups
- Supporting clients in cooking meals for themselves and their families
- Encouraging exploration of new activities based on clients' interests
- Aiding clients in establishing daily routines and utilizing planners and schedules
- Teaching new skills to enhance their independence
Our Rehab Coaches work both one-on-one with clients and in group settings. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with clients, their families, and other professionals, including physiotherapists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists. Our team operates Monday to Friday during business hours, ensuring no shift or weekend work is required.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Be committed to our Trust's mission and vision

- Hold a NZQA Level 4 qualification in Brain Injury, Level 4 Health and Wellbeing, or an equivalent qualification
- Possess a full valid driver’s license and be able to drive a van
- Have a minimum of two years of experience working with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or as a Support Worker
- Be capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Communicate effectively in both written and spoken formats
- Demonstrate good computer skills
- Work with a diverse range of clients, including those with challenging behaviors and complex social backgrounds
- Maximize client independence while encouraging choice, initiation, and participation in activities
- Exhibit strong time management skills
Previous experience in a rehabilitation setting is advantageous.
