About the Role As a Probation Officer, you will have the rewarding opportunity to engage with individuals we manage in the community, along with their families, to address criminogenic behaviors and reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Your role will involve managing community-based sentences and orders, as well as preparing reports for the Courts and the New Zealand Parole Board. We believe in viewing public safety through the lens of respect and positive relationships. By focusing on the wellbeing of the individuals under our management, you will play a crucial role in helping them reintegrate into society and avoid returning to the justice system. It is essential to treat everyone with dignity, upholding their mana throughout the process. About You We are looking for candidates who: - Can relate effectively to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds - Possess excellent spoken and written communication skills - Are team players who can motivate and inspire others - Remain positive and resilient in challenging circumstances - Are capable of critical thinking and information assessment In alignment with our Hokai Rangi strategy, we are particularly prioritizing applications from individuals with experience in a Kaupapa Māori or Pasifika environment, as well as those willing to learn. We encourage you to highlight any relevant experience or language skills in your application. Skills and Experience Candidates should demonstrate: - Well-developed communication skills that facilitate building relationships with a diverse range of people - A capacity for producing clear, concise, and logical written communication that is easily understood - Strong planning and organizational abilities to ensure the effective use of resources - The ability to participate in a team environment and share knowledge to support others To be eligible for this role, you must possess a Full New Zealand Driver Licence and have the legal right to work in New Zealand without restrictions for a minimum of 24 months. Benefits The salary range for this position is between $64,359 and $81,909, depending on your skills and experience. Your appointment and remuneration will reflect your qualifications relevant to the role.
