About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead our high-performing team in delivering strategic category management across Suncorp New Zealand, our partners, and joint ventures. This pivotal role is essential in creating value for our customers by leveraging the best of the supply market through strategic procurement, commercial leadership, and strong supplier relationships. In this role, you will design and execute procurement strategies that maximize value, reduce costs, and build competitive advantage. You will oversee category management activities, sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and governance across a diverse range of spend categories. We are looking for someone who can think innovatively and utilize AI and emerging technologies to meet business requirements and enhance our operations while confidently navigating our Trans-Tasman partnership with Australia. Key Responsibilities - Develop and implement procurement strategies for defined categories in collaboration with the Executive Manager, Financial Management. - Lead category management planning, sourcing initiatives, contract execution, and ongoing vendor governance. - Drive process improvements and organizational change to achieve best-in-class procurement outcomes. - Manage complex contract negotiations, SLAs, extensions, variations, and performance frameworks. - Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and Group Procurement. - Foster a high-engagement team culture, providing mentoring and coaching to team members. About You To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic procurement, with a focus on category management. You will have proven leadership capabilities and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization. Experience in centralized procurement environments and managing complex negotiations is essential. You should possess strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and expertise in vendor management, strategic sourcing, and value chain optimization. Excellent interpersonal, consulting, and stakeholder management skills are crucial, along with a strong awareness of risk and compliance, enabling you to provide sound mitigation advice. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are also required. What You Will Get in Return We offer a competitive salary along with a discretionary annual bonus.
