About the Role
We are currently seeking a Physician with specialty qualifications and experience in Geriatric Medicine to join our Health in Ageing service based at Tauranga Hospital. In this role, you will provide acute, rehabilitation, and elective services specifically for older adults.
Your clinical responsibilities will include managing patients admitted for acute care, overseeing inpatient rehabilitation, conducting ambulatory clinics, and providing consultations across various specialties, including a dedicated Orthogeriatrics service. You will also offer telephone advice to primary care and other specialist clinicians. Additionally, there will be opportunities to teach undergraduate (years 4-6) and postgraduate (basic and advanced trainees) medical students.
This position is a permanent part-time role at 0.6 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), which translates to 48 hours per fortnight.
About the Team/Service/Location
Tauranga Hospital is a modern 359-bed facility that provides comprehensive acute adult medical services, supported by a team of resident specialists in various fields such as Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Haematology, and Renal services.
As a member of our team, you will collaborate with other Physicians, Junior Medical Staff, Allied Health professionals, and Nurses dedicated to providing specialist care for older adults. We encourage clinicians to pursue their subspecialty interests, including orthogeriatrics, stroke, Parkinson's disease, movement disorders, acute care for older adults, and rehabilitation.

About You
We welcome candidates who hold sub-specialty qualifications and experience in Gerontology. Given the flexible nature of this vacancy, we also encourage trainees nearing the completion of their training within the next six months to apply. Applicants must possess or be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
