About the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated Data Analyst to join our Business Insights team on a fixed-term contract until August 2027. This full-time position is based in Wellington and offers a salary range of $81,441 to $101,349.
As a Data Analyst, you will report to the Manager of Business Insights and play a crucial role in collecting, reporting, and analyzing data. Your efforts will support decision-making, foster a data-driven culture, and improve the essential services we provide. This role is ideal for those looking to work within an end-to-end data team that is integral to service delivery. You will have the opportunity to directly influence business outcomes, collaborate with key stakeholders, and translate data into valuable insights that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
In this position, you will work directly with various stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver timely, accurate insights and reports to support informed business decisions. You will also develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals and responsiveness to their data requirements.
Your responsibilities will include performing analyses to identify trends, patterns, and key metrics that affect service delivery. You will assist Senior Data Analysts in documenting business rules, assumptions, and logic used in analytics and reporting. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Data Engineers to profile data sources, identify data quality issues, and support data cleaning and transformation efforts.
You will regularly monitor data for inconsistencies and errors, working with team members to implement solutions that maintain data accuracy and reliability. Identifying areas for improvement within data handling, reporting processes, and analytics workflows will also be part of your role, as you suggest solutions to enhance efficiency. Furthermore, you will develop, automate, and deploy Business Intelligence dashboards to provide visibility into operations and uncover insights.
About You
We are looking for a passionate individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who is customer-focused and eager to learn in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Key qualifications include:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in data analytics, with a proven ability to transform data into actionable insights that inform decision-making.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, SQL, R, and Python, along with experience in BI software like SAS Viya, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Strong skills in data visualization and data storytelling.
- A robust customer focus and the ability to engage business users to understand and gather their requirements.
- Proven capability to deliver complex projects and work effectively as part of a team to achieve successful outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex messages to non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of or experience working in an agile environment is desirable.
