About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated pharmacist to join our clinical pharmacy team in a permanent, full-time rotational role. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience across various specialties within our tertiary facility, including medical, surgical, mental health, cardiology, renal, critical care, and paediatrics, among others.
Your responsibilities will include rotating through all areas of our pharmacy service. This encompasses clinical and ward work, as well as involvement with the haematology, oncology, and compounding teams. You will also participate in the quality and safe use of medicines team, serving both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy settings. This comprehensive learning environment includes occasional weekend shifts, which will be compensated at overtime rates, and may offer opportunities to join the on-call roster as needed.

The salary for this position will be determined based on experience and will align with the Allied, Public Health, Scientific Technical Collective Agreement. Additional benefits include KiwiSaver contributions (if eligible), professional development support, and wellness programs.
About the Team/Service
The Te Whatu Ora Waikato Pharmacy Service plays a crucial role in providing essential pharmacy services to Waikato Hospital and rural hospitals, while also offering tertiary advisory and support services across the Te Manawa Taki region. Our team is integral to the effective operation of healthcare, maintaining the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical services. With our outpatient pharmacy, robust clinical trials service, and compounding suite, we deliver a diverse range of services that truly set us apart.
About You
To be considered for this role, the following skills and experience are essential:
- Registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand
- A current annual practicing certificate with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand
- New graduates and community pharmacists are welcome to apply
Desirable qualifications include:
- Hospital-level experience
- Post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy
- A current New Zealand driver's license
