Extrastaff is a leading Labour Hire Company dedicated to connecting skilled professionals with exciting opportunities in the construction sector. We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team and work on significant infrastructure and commercial construction projects throughout New Zealand.
About the Role
We are hiring Construction Technicians for full-time, permanent positions, with a minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week. Pay ranges from a minimum of $25.00 to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, depending on experience and skills. The specific site location will vary based on project demand. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to ensure a safe and effective working environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that align with your skills and the needs of our business. Your duties will include:
- Complying with all aspects of any contract, project, or task while delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures at elevated levels.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture intrusion and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches using appropriate tools.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools.
- Performing general labouring tasks, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers.
- Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around the site.
- Completing all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Some experience in the construction industry is preferred, but not essential.
- A friendly demeanor, excellent time management, and a strong work ethic are essential.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills in the industry.
- A solid understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Experience in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry.
- Competence in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves.
- Precision in measuring and cutting materials.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- The ability to collaborate with other trades when necessary.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While the role is listed in Gisborne, we are actively recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand, based on project requirements. Available regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
