About the Company
At Cardinal, we are proud to be a leading partner for many of New Zealand's well-known companies in the food, beverage, grocery, and personal healthcare sectors. We provide comprehensive logistics solutions that enable our team members to grow, develop, and advance within the organization. As we innovate supply chains with New Zealand's first fully automated 3PL warehouse, featuring AI-driven robotics, we are excited about the future and the opportunities it holds.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Import & Export Specialist to manage the daily operations of our import and export activities at our Auckland site. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring smooth warehouse operations, maintaining accurate stock management, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for managing import and export containers, ensuring accuracy in product details, quantities, and timelines. You will conduct quality control checks on received stock, ensuring it is properly labeled and ready for storage within 24 hours.
You will maintain designated areas for pallets, rubbish, gas bottles, and MPI holding areas, and oversee the unloading and loading of containers, including urgent requests and MPI inspections. Your role will also involve managing LCL shipments and container requirements to minimize detention and demurrage costs.
Additionally, you will provide timely reports to management and clients, support inbound and outbound operations—including customer service, order processing, and dispatch—and ensure compliance with MPI regulations and company standard operating procedures. Maintaining health and safety standards and leading by example in the workplace will also be key aspects of your role.
Key Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of three years of experience in warehousing, logistics, or distribution operations. A university degree or an approved industry qualification is mandatory.
We value a strong understanding of warehousing and logistics processes, and while experience with WMS and SAP is preferred, it is not essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a good level of IT skills are necessary.
You should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail. A customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills is essential, and a forklift license is preferred. Knowledge of food safety practices will be an advantage, and flexibility with work days and hours is required.
Benefits
Joining our team means being part of a dynamic and supportive environment. You will work in a fast-paced, growing logistics sector with numerous opportunities for professional growth and development.
