Description
About the Company
At Nelmac Kūmānu, we are dedicated to providing exceptional services in the civil sector, particularly focused on the maintenance and management of sewer and stormwater infrastructure. Our highly regarded 3 Waters Team operates around the clock to ensure the integrity and functionality of Nelson’s reticulation network.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a part-time Inflow and Infiltration Technician to join our team, working three days a week. For those seeking full-time opportunities, additional work is available within the 3 Waters Drainage team, which focuses on the maintenance and repair of our vital infrastructure.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing inflow and infiltration issues, which involve the entry of non-wastewater fluids—such as stormwater, groundwater, and saltwater—into our wastewater systems. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Investigating, monitoring, and coordinating repairs within the sewer network in the Nelson region to minimize inflow and infiltration.
- Regularly liaising with NCC sewer asset engineers and our clients.
- Conducting inspections of manholes, sewer mains, and laterals to identify leaks, cracks, and defects using techniques such as CCTV, dye testing, and water testing.
- Installing and maintaining water monitoring devices, including water level sensors.
- Monitoring and analyzing data while preparing technical field reports to inform repair methods.
- Estimating and coordinating projects for necessary pipe repairs.
- Performing general maintenance and repairs of the 3 Waters infrastructure.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Theoretical knowledge or practical experience in the 3 waters civil infrastructure industry, such as drain laying or a related engineering role.
- Technical proficiency in using computer software, applications, and new technology.
- Strong project leadership skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- A current Full Class 1 NZ Driver’s Licence.
- A high level of health and safety awareness and application.
- A positive attitude, self-motivation, and perseverance.
If you have a knack for investigation and problem-solving and thrive in a dynamic team setting, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
