About the Role We are looking for a full-time Industrial Sewing Machinist specializing in canvas. In this role, you will be responsible for operating industrial sewing machines to create a variety of canvas products. Your attention to detail and precision in sewing will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of our products. This position offers a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during weekends. Key Responsibilities Your key responsibilities will include: - Operating industrial sewing machines to sew canvas materials according to specific instructions and patterns. - Measuring, cutting, and preparing canvas materials for sewing, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in material usage. - Following patterns, blueprints, or design specifications to create canvas products that meet both quality and aesthetic standards. - Utilizing various stitching techniques, such as lockstitch, zigzag, and overlock, to achieve the desired seams and finishes. - Inspecting finished products for defects and making necessary adjustments to maintain high product quality. - Verifying dimensions, sizes, and specifications of canvas products to ensure compliance with quality standards. - Performing repairs or alterations to canvas products as required. - Setting up and threading industrial sewing machines, ensuring correct tension and settings for different materials. - Conducting routine maintenance on sewing machines, including cleaning, oiling, and replacing parts as needed. - Troubleshooting minor issues with sewing machines to minimize downtime and maintain production flow. - Reporting major machine issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs. - Understanding different types of canvas materials and their impact on sewing techniques. - Selecting appropriate threads based on durability and appearance. - Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. - Being aware of emergency procedures in case of accidents or equipment malfunctions. Requirements To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements: - A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. - Proficiency in operating various industrial sewing machines. - Strong knowledge of canvas materials and their characteristics. - Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high product quality. - Basic machine maintenance skills and troubleshooting abilities. - Familiarity with safety protocols and practices in a manufacturing environment. - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. - A clean police report with no pending charges.
