About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Drainlayer to join our Utilities Division in Gisborne. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation and repair of sanitary and storm water sewer structures. Key tasks will include laying out pipe routes and identifying existing pipes that require repair or replacement. In addition to these responsibilities, your role will also involve: - Identifying safety, health, and environmental (SHE) risks, near misses, potential problems, and spills, reporting them promptly. - Connecting pipe pieces and sealing joints using welding equipment, cement, or glue. - Excavating and digging trenches along marked areas as outlined in project plans. Requirements To succeed in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: - A minimum Class 1 full license with a WTR endorsement. - Proven experience in drainlaying; a Trade or Certified Drainlayer qualification is advantageous. - A solid understanding of the principles and technology associated with drainlaying and new water connection work. - Experience in operating excavators and other machinery. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. - A strong understanding of site safety and hazard management. - A self-motivated, can-do attitude, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
