About the Role
We are currently offering a 12-month fixed-term opportunity in our Trade Me Property - Homes team for a Technical Product Owner. This role, which is set to commence in late August, is pivotal in achieving exceptional customer and commercial outcomes.
As a critical leader and advocate for both customers and products within our Product Engineering team, you will take ownership of results. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that teams focus on the right initiatives, making informed trade-off decisions based on value and impact, and being accountable for delivering outcomes that align with our key metrics. You will collaborate closely with various teams to prioritize and refine the product roadmap and backlog, manage dependencies, and ensure the systems we rely on remain robust, resilient, and stable.
What You Can Expect from This Role
In this role, you will:
- Facilitate the definition of platform goals and strategies, including guiding principles, desired outcomes, and opportunities through a product mindset.
- Build and maintain a flexible, value-driven product roadmap that aligns with the platform strategy while managing complex dependencies and competing priorities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the business and the squads, ensuring maximum value is attained and risks are mitigated.
- Balance considerations of value, viability, feasibility, and usability while being accountable for the short-term roadmap and committed outcomes of product delivery.
- Monitor, measure, and evaluate the health, performance, and user experience of your products, supporting and prioritizing continuous improvements.
What You Will Bring to Our Team
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience leading Product Engineering teams in an agile development environment, with a solid understanding of product, design, and engineering practices.
- A proven track record of creating flexible, value-driven product roadmaps that clarify direction, define opportunities, and deliver measurable results.
- A background in software development or testing, with knowledge of the platforms essential for delivering customer value, such as web and mobile technologies, communication platforms, and cloud solutions.
- A results-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, allowing you to convey ideas clearly, listen attentively, and enhance team communication proactively.
