Casual Shop Assistant - Waipuna Hospice
At Waipuna Hospice, we are dedicated to providing specialized palliative care to our communities in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty. Our mission is to offer responsive, compassionate, and person-centered care to individuals living with life-limiting illnesses, primarily in their homes. We also operate a welcoming inpatient unit in Te Puna for those who require additional support.
As a charity fueled by passion, courage, teamwork, and community spirit, our funding comes from our fundraising efforts and busy charity shops, with some support from the government. About the Role
We are looking for energetic Casual Shop Assistants to join our dedicated teams at various retail and depot locations in Te Puke, Papamoa, Mount Maunganui, Fraser Cove, and Katikati. This position offers a variety of tasks, ensuring your day is engaging and fast-paced.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing coverage for staff leave on a casual basis
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the shop
- Delivering exceptional customer service
In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Shop Managers and teams to optimize the sales of donated goods, which in turn helps fund our essential community services.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, across multiple shop locations
- Previous retail experience is advantageous
- A passion for sustainable consumerism and pre-loved items
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- A caring and sensitive demeanor when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- A positive attitude and a willingness to be a team player
- A high level of fitness, with the ability to stand for extended periods and move or carry items as needed
- A sense of humor and a dedication to providing an excellent customer experience
