Description
About the Company
At Ashburton Hospital, part of Ashburton Health Services, we are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to our community. We operate under the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and strive to build a health system that serves all New Zealanders. We are currently seeking a Senior Registered Nurse to join our team in a casual position.
About the Role
The Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) is a vital part of Ashburton Hospital's Acute and Inpatient cluster. In this unit, we manage a wide range of cases, from Triage 1 patients requiring immediate resuscitation to Triage 5 patients needing less urgent care. Experience in emergency and acute care, as well as phlebotomy and cannulation certification, is advantageous.
Ward 1 is a 21-bed acute medical ward that provides care for a diverse group of patients, including those requiring high dependency, medical, and palliative care. Ward 2 focuses on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and caters to non-weight bearing patients with 18 beds available.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join our Senior Nursing Team as a Duty Nurse Manager. In this role, you will work autonomously and be responsible for coordinating and managing patient flow processes at Ashburton Hospital, including weekdays, after hours, weekends, and public holidays.
Your extensive career expertise, organized approach, and ability to multitask will be crucial for success in this dynamic role. We offer opportunities for professional growth and skill development, allowing you to contribute to our reputation for excellent service delivery.
While postgraduate experience in leadership and management, as well as nursing leadership experience, is preferred, we will consider all applicants based on their career experience and desire for a senior leadership position.
About You
This role can be both challenging and rewarding, and we are looking for a collaborative individual who can work alongside our senior nursing team, nursing colleagues, and external providers to deliver optimal service for all users.
You will be expected to operate at the top of your clinical and professional scope, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a positive attitude.
To be successful, you should possess:
- Broad acute clinical experience and excellent collaborative skills for effective communication across disciplines.
- Extensive nursing experience, either clinically or in a relevant senior nursing role.
- Expert clinical nursing knowledge coupled with demonstrated leadership abilities and sound people management skills.
- A solution-focused mindset with the ability to problem-solve and think on your feet.
Skills and Experience
Acute medical or surgical experience is essential. You must be a registered nurse in New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
