About the Role
We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team. These permanent positions will be deployed on various projects throughout New Zealand, with site locations determined by project demand. We offer a competitive hourly wage ranging from a minimum of $25.00 to a maximum of $40.00, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work each week. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to ensure your safety and efficiency on the job.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing tasks related to construction that align with your skills and capabilities.
- Complying with all contractual obligations and delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures at elevated heights.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture intrusion, and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches using the appropriate tools.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools.
- Conducting general labor tasks, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers.
- Loading and unloading construction materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them as needed.
- Completing any other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Preferably some experience in the construction industry, though it is not essential.
- A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic.
- A commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry.
- A solid understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Experience in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry.
- Competence in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves.
- Ability to measure and cut materials with precision.
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Must pass a criminal check and drug test.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
This role is primarily listed in the West Coast region; however, we are recruiting for positions throughout all regions of New Zealand, including both the North and South Islands. Applicants are encouraged to apply from any of the following regions:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
Candidates must be willing to travel or relocate as required, and we will cover relocation costs.
